We bought this oceanfront property on a whim, while visiting a friend on the island, twenty years ago. It looked like paradise on earth, and it turned out to be even better: the view, the swimming off the sandstone, the off the grid way of living, the fruit and vegetable stands on the road and, first and foremost, the kindness of the residents, it all added up. It was the best move we ever made. There were two cabins on the property. We asked our good friend, renown Vancouver architect David Rudd, to redesign them and had the best craftsmen on the island rebuild them entirely. Both cabins are very dry, sound and well built. We never had a humidity problem in 20 years, always finding the place in the Spring the way we'd left it in the Fall.
